As Caros Fodor approaches his fourth fight with ONE FC on September 12th, the lightweight has been forced to deal with the fact he’ll no longer fight Vuyisile Colossa. While the UFC vet isn’t worried about his ability to make tactical changes for his new opponent Vincent Latoel, Fodor has lost the opportunity to avenge the only defeat he’s incurred since joining ONE FC.

“For sure. I was looking forward to fighting Colossa,” Fodor admitted on a recent episode of Full Contact Fighter Radio. “He beat me and knocked me out of the title contention for the ONE FC belt. I was looking forward to that and I was training hard for him, but injuries happen all the time and it’s just part of the sport.”

“I just want to continue to win, put down some wins and get back into contention,” furthered Fodor, who tapped out Willy Ni in his last outing, which went down at ONE FC 16 in May. “So as long as I can fight I’m happy. I don’t want to sit anymore.”

Fodor battled Colossa at ONE FC 13 last December, and the latter emerged with the unanimous decision win. Fodor headed into the bout having decisioned Seung Ho Yang just a few months earlier at ONE FC 10, which marked “The Future’s” promotional debut.

“We put on a pretty good show the first time, and I wasn’t too surprised that they called about him,” said Fodor, while discussing what led to ONE FC booking a rematch with Colossa, just one fight removed from their first encounter. “From the very beginning I was like ‘man, I really want to fight him again’, because I feel like I didn’t give the best performance I could have. I was really thrilled to get the call about that.”

Of course, now Fodor must focus on Latoel, who is a 30 fight plus vet that is coming off a stoppage win over Eddie Ng in May.

“I just found out a couple of days ago, so I’m just looking now into his footage, but from what I can tell he’s a solid striker and I think his biggest attribute is that he’s a gamer,” Fodor (9-4) noted about Latoel (15-14-2). “I’ve fought on several cards with him and we’ve talked; he’s a fighter for sure. He’s got the mentality and he likes to get in there and bang, and put on a show. So I think his toughness is going to be one of his biggest strengths.”

Since arriving in ONE FC last year, Fodor has fought in Indonesia, Singapore and the Philippines. Up next, he’ll head to Cambodia for ONE FC 20. While many North American fighters say they’d prefer to fight close to home, the Kirkland, Washington resident has been enjoying competing overseas.

“Now that I have a rhythm, I’ve done it several times now, and I have my own routine for being in another country. It’s worked out great for me the last couple fights,” said the 30 year-old Fodor. “I really enjoy it man. Fight week is usually a really stressful time for fighters, you have to make weight, you’re around your opponent inside your hotel, it’s kind of awkward, and I think being in a different country, and seeing things for the first time, just completely takes my mind off of that kind of stuff…I would never see those places without being signed to ONE FC so I’m really enjoying it.”
