Opinion: ONE FC or WSOF Should Sign Leonard Garcia

Leonard Garcia

By Michael Hatamoto

Former UFC featherweight Leonard Garcia was finally handed his walking papers from the UFC, but the veteran fighter has reportedly received multiple offers from other organizations.

Garcia recently said he has received offers from the likes of One Fighting Championship, Bellator, and Legacy so far – but is taking his time before making a final decision.

Here is what he recently had to say on Twitter:

After losing six out of his last seven fights in the cage, I don’t know how much the 33-year-old fighter has left in the gas tank. (For overall accuracy, his split-decision wins against Nam Phan and Jung Chan-Sung should also have been losses as well.)

If Garcia is serious about training part of his camp at Team Alpha Male – where he’ll be challenged by talented wrestlers and grapplers in the lighter weight classes – and head back to Jackson’s to finish his camp, I think he still has potential for success.

Garcia has been in numerous wars throughout his professional career that dates back to 1999, including multiple fight of the night awards, a fight of the year award, and knockout of the night awards. However, he hasn’t finished a fight within the past five years but training with Alpha Male and fighting in a different promotion could lead to a rejuvenated Garcia.

He doesn’t seem interested in heading to Bellator, as he wants to use his next few fights as a possible shortcut back into the UFC. As long as he is matched up with someone looking to stand and bang, he could be involved in some great fights that will please fans.
