Portland’s Rose Garden Arena Hosts July 14th Strikeforce

Rockhold

By FCF Staff

Portland’s Rose Garden arena will once again host a major MMA event, as Strikeforce is headed to the city for the promotion’s upcoming July 14th card, which will feature two title fights.

At middleweight, champion Luke Rockhold will look to defend against challenger Tim Kennedy, and at welterweight, Tyron Woodley will face UFC vet Nate Marquardt for Strikeforce’s vacant title.

Rockhold (9-1) is coming off a first round stoppage win over Keith Jardine in January, while Kennedy (14-3) earned a unanimous decision win over Robbie Lawler in his last outing, in June, 2011.

In Woodley’s (10-0) last appearance, he worked his way to a split decision win over Jordan Mein, while Marquardt (31-10-2) hasn’t competed since last March when he scored a UD victory over Dan Miller.

Other bouts that have been confirmed for the event include Jardine vs. Roger Gracie and Lawler vs. Lorenz Larkin.

Tickets for the July 14th event go on sale to the general public Friday. The card will be broadcast on Showtime.
