Pro Elite Announces Signing of Andrei Arlovski, NCAA Champ Mark Ellis

As expected, Pro Elite has confirmed today that it has has signed Andrei Arlovski to a contract, and that the former UFC heavyweight champion will compete at the promotion’s upcoming August 27th event in Honolulu, Hawaii.

No terms of the deal or who Arlovski will face next month were released.

In addition, Pro Elite announced that it has reached an agreement with former NCAA Division 1 wrestling champion Mark Ellis, and that the heavyweight will also compete on the August 27th card.

Arlovski (15-9) (pictured) will be looking to end a four fight losing streak which includes stoppage losses to Fedor Emelianenko, Brett Rogers, and most recently, Sergei Kharitonov.

“Andrei is a world class athlete and still has a ton of heart left in him to fight his way back to a championship,” T.Jay Thompson, VP, ProElite Fight Operations said in the announcement.

Ellis, who competed for the University of Missouri during his collegiate wrestling career, continues to train at the world renowned American Kickboxing Academy.

“Mark has all the makings of a World Champion,” said Bob Cook, AKA Head Trainer. “He is an MMA newcomer and is already competing head to head with our other athletes like Cain and Olympian Daniel Cormier. Mark has the capacity to compete and beat the best in the business.”

No opponent has been confirmed for Ellis either.

The August 27th event will be the first for Pro Elite since it was acquired by the Stratus Media Group.
