Quote Of The Day: Bas Rutten Sends Message To Cris Cyborg
By FCF Staff
News of Strikeforce women’s champion Cris “Cyborg” Santos’ failed drug test sent a shockwave through the MMA world last Friday. Fans and figureheads in the sport have since been carrying on spirited debates about everything from the consequences the fighter should face to the validity of her skills and her previous wins.
Cyborg claimed that, during training camp for her Dec. 17 fight against Hiroko Yamanaka, she had been given what she thought was a diuretic. In response to her claim, one man – former UFC heavyweight champion and HDNet MMA analyst Bas Rutten – has sent her some clear advice via Twitter:
“If Cyborg wants to clear her name, simple, send the drink to the athletic commission, let them test it. I just don’t believe they put it in drinks to LOSE weight. If they DO put roids in, show the drink and her name is cleared. Its what I would do. Like I said before, they all say “I took something over the counter”. What? Tell us what you took? Help your fellow fighters not to make the same mistake by accident, just saying”
Rutten has never been one to hide his feelings. Recently, he blasted countryman and UFC heavyweight Alistair Overeem for parting ways with Golden Glory, Overeem’s longtime management team responsible for launching Overeem’s flourishing career.
