Quote of the Day: Michael Bisping “Christmas is Going to be January 19th” When “I Beat the Living Snot out of Vitor Belfort”
By FCF Staff
Michael Bisping has been campaigning for a crack at UFC Middleweight Champion Anderson Silva for some time, and the outspoken fighter believes a win over Vitor Belfort in January, should entrench his title shot.
While participating in the latest edition of AXS TV’s “Inside MMA” program, Bisping reportedly stated (quote via MMA Junkie):
“For me, Christmas is coming late this year,” said Bisping. “Normally, it’s Dec. 25, (but) for me, Christmas is going to be Jan. 19 when I go down to Brazil, beat the living snot out of Vitor Belfort and take my title fight, my rightly deserved title fight, my long overdue title fight.”
Although Bisping (23-4) is just one fight removed from a tightly contested unanimous decision loss to Chael Sonnen, the British middleweight is 7-3 in his last 10 fights. Most recently he scored a UD win over Brian Stann at UFC 152 in September.
Belfort (21-10) is coming off a fourth round, submission loss to light-heavyweight champ Jon Jones that same night.
With Georges St. Pierre now scheduled to fight Nick Diaz on March 16th, and Anderson Silva’s camp having relayed an interest in fighting Bisping, the latter could very well secure a championship bout provided he wins on January 19th.
The Bisping-Belfort fight will be part of the UFC on FX 7 card, which will take place in Sao Paulo, Brazil.
