Recent KOTN Winner Eddie Wineland Reports “Cut Healing Well”, Hoping to Fight in October or November

By Kelsey Mowatt

After incurring what UFC President Dana White described as one of the worst cuts in the promotion’s history, bantamweight Eddie Wineland says his recovery is on track and that he’s hoping to fight again this Fall.

Wineland (19-8-1) incurred the massive gash during his memorable bout with Scott Jorgensen on June 8th, which saw Wineland win the fight by second round knockout. The former WEC bantamweight champ also received “Knockout of the Night” honors and an extra $40,000 for the victory.

The 28 year-old, Duneland Vale Tudo fighter relayed to Full Contact Fighter that the “cut is healing well” and that as a result, he’s targeting October or November for his next bout.

Wineland received a 60 day medical suspension for the cut, which he received courtesy a Jorgensen knee.

The KO victory returned Wineland to the winning column, after he dropped back-to-back unanimous decision losses to Urijah Faber and Joseph Benavidez.

Wineland is 7-3 in his last 10 bouts.
