Report: “King Mo” Lawal to Compete in Summer Bellator Tourney
By FCF Staff
Former Strikeforce champion “King Mo” Lawal will reportedly compete in Bellator’s abbreviated, light-heavyweight tournament this summer. The decorated wrestler will compete for the first time since he was knocked out by Emanuel Newton, in the semi-finals of the promotion’s most recent competition.
According to a report from MMA Fighting, Lawal will make his return at a June 19th event in Thackerville, Oklahoma. Due to the fact that the light-heavyweight competition will begin during the summer, the tournament will not feature a quarterfinal round like Bellator’s other tournaments.
The competition’s other competitors, and who Lawal will fight, have not been finalized.
Lawal (9-2) was signed to Bellator, and a professional wrestling contract by parent company Viacom last year, and stopped Przemyslaw Mysiala in his promotional debut in January.
The report also states that Bellator’s upcoming reality show, “Fight Master”, will premiere the following night on SPIKE.
