Report: “Shogun” Rua and BJ Penn Top UFC on FOX 5 Payroll

Established veterans and former champions “Shogun” Rua and BJ Penn topped the payroll for this past Saturday’s UFC on FOX 5 card, which was hosted by Seattle’s Key Arena.
According to multiple reports the former light-heavyweight champ Rua earned $175,000 for his unanimous decision loss to Alexander Gustafsson, while the former lightweight and welterweight champ Penn received $150,000 for his UD defeat to Rory MacDonald.
Lightweight champion Benson Henderson was also one of the day’s top earners, as he collected $78,000 total for his decision win over challenger Nate Diaz, who was paid $50,000.
Here are the payroll figures that were disclosed to the Washington State Department of Licensing, which do not include any money a fighter collected for sponsorships or other types of performance bonuses.
