Report: Anderson Silva Tested Positive For Synthetic Testosterone in Latest USADA Flag
By FCF Staff
After Anderson Silva was pulled from a scheduled fight at UFC Fight Night 122 last November, due to a USADA flag, it’s being reported the legendary fighter tested positive for a synthetic testosterone.
Silva was scheduled to fight Kelvin Gastelum at the Shanghai event, but was forced to withdraw, as a result of a failed drug test. According to a new report from Combate (via MMA Junkie), sources say the former middleweight champ tested positive for methyltestosterone – a synthetic testosterone – and an unspecified diuretic.
The Brazilian star has denied ever knowingly taking performance enhancing drugs. Silva tested positive for banned substances, including a steroid metabolite in 2015, and was suspended for a year. The legend’s team claimed the positive test was due to a contaminated, sexual enhancement pill Silva took.
Silva could be suspended for four years, as a result of this second, USADA flag.
