Anderson Silva will appear in front of the Nevada State Athletic Commission this Thursday, after failing several drug tests earlier this year, and the fighter’s camp is reportedly going to blame the results on tainted sexual performance medication and supplements.

According to a report from the Brazilian publication, Combate, Silva’s camp are going to claim that a sexual performance medication the legendary fighter took, was contaminated with drostanolone metabolite, an anabolic steroid. The team also believes another supplement Silva took may have been tainted as well.

The report cites documents that will be submitted to the NSAC, which also acknowledge that Silva took medication for insomnia and anxiety prior to his January 31st bout with Nick Diaz.  Silva did not report to the commission that he was using this substances in a pre-fight questionnaire.

The fighter’s defense will also reportedly hinge on the fact that Silva passed a post-fight exam he underwent. Currently the 40 year-old fighter is indefinitely suspended until his case his heard this Thursday.

Silva returned to action at UFC 183 and scored a unanimous decision win over Nick Diaz. Unless Silva’s appeal is successful, the bout will be overturned to a no-contest and the former middleweight champ will likely be suspended until at least early 2016.
