Report: Anthony Pettis and Donald Cerrone Bout Likely for January 26th

By FCF Staff

Donald Cerrone has been calling for a bout with Anthony Pettis for some time and the highly regarded fighter will reportedly get his wish early next year. Following his knockout win over Melvin Guillard in August, Cerrone was quick to call out the former WEC champion, and according to reports the two will fight January 26th.

Sources close to the UFC have apparently informed MMA Junkie that the bout could be part of the upcoming UFC on FOX 6 card.

Prior to stopping Guillard, Cerrone (19-4) worked his way to a unanimous decision win over Jeremy Stephens in May, after losing by UD to Nate Diaz last December.

Pettis (15-2) hasn’t competed since February when he knocked out Joe Lauzon. The noted striker, whose only loss in his last five fights came via decision to Clay Guida, has been on the sidelines due to a shoulder injury.

The UFC has not made any announcement regarding the reported match-up.
