After John Lineker was forced to pull out of UFC Fight Night 83 due to illness, it’s being reported that Augusto Mendes has agreed to fight Cody Garbrandt on Sunday night.

Mendes (5-0) was tapped to replace Jim Hettes last month at UFC FN 81, but a rib injury postponed his Octagon debut. The decorated jiu-jitsu practitioner hasn’t fought since last July, when he submitted Donald Williams while competing for Legacy FC.

The addition of Mendes was reported by Combate and MMA Fighting.com has also confirmed the change with sources.

Garbrandt (7-0), meanwhile, decisioned Enrique Briones in his last bout, and the bantamweight is 2-0 in the UFC.

UFC FN 83 will be hosted by Pittsburgh’s Consol Energy Center.
