Bellator’s move to SPIKE TV this year was considered significant, due to the expectation that it would receive a ratings increase, and the promotion has concluded its first season on the network with a ratings success.

Last night’s card in Atlantic City, which featured featherweight champion Pat Curran choking out Shabulat Shamhalaev, drew around 900,000 viewers on average according to MMA Weekly.

The card, which also showcased the latest middleweight and featherweight tourney finales, peaked at just over one million viewers.

The ratings fell just short of the season’s ratings high at Bellator 85, and tied the average ratings mark Bellator 91 hit in February.

Bellator action in 2012 was broadcast on MTV 2, which like the promotion and SPIKE, are Viacom properties. This season’s ratings on SPIKE have been four to six times larger on average.
