It looks as though Bellator is moving forward with a high profile fight for its September 5th card, as featherweight champ Pat Curran will reportedly rematch Patricio Freire at the event.

Bellator 123 will be hosted by the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut, the same night UFC Fight Night 50 will go down in nearby Ledyard.

The Curran-“Pitbull” fight was reported first by Globo’s Combate, and has also been confirmed by other outlets.

Curran (20-5) will be competing for the first time since March, when he scored a memorable, fifth round, submission win over Daniel Straus. The win avenged Curran’s decision loss to the latter in November.

The featherweight champion battled “Pitbull” for the first time in January, 2013, and scored a split decision win over the explosive fighter.

Freire (21-2), meanwhile, stopped Justin Wilcox in November to lock up another shot at Curran. The Team Nogueira fighter has won four straight since he was defeated by the Illinois resident.

Bellator has yet to announced the September 5th, Curran-Freire fight.
