Report: Bellator 131’s Tito Ortiz Fined for Unsportsmanlike Behaviour
By FCF Staff
Tito Ortiz worked his way to a split decision over his rival Stephan Bonnar on Saturday, but due to his actions following the win, the UFC vet’s fight purse is a little bit lighter.
Ortiz outscored Bonnar for the victory at Bellator 131, which was hosted by San Diego’s Valley View Casino Center. After the decision was announced, Ortiz proceeded to throw water on Bonnar–who had dropped to the canvas in response to the scoring–and then gave the lighter the finger as he walked away.
According to a follow up report from MMA Junkie.com, the California State Athletic Commission has decided to fine Ortiz $2,500 for his actions. The 39 year-old vet reportedly was paid $300,000 for the bout.
With the win, Ortiz has gone 2-0 thus far under the Bellator banner, and carries a record of 18-11-1. In his Bellator debut this past May, Ortiz choked out former middleweight champ Alexander Shlemenko.
