Not only did “King Mo” Lawal score an impressive and important victory at Bellator 123 last night, the outspoken fighter is making headlines for comments he’s directed at Connecticut fans.

Lawal scored a second round, stoppage win over Dustin Jacoby at the event, which was hosted by the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut. During the bout some of the fans in attendance booed Lawal, particularly in round one after he pretended to be dazed by Jacoby.

Speaking to the press after the fight, here is some of what the decorated wrestler had to say about the booing (quotes via MMA Junkie.com):

“The crowd was going off because they don’t like me, so I started clowning around,” Lawal said. “Man, I don’t care if they like me. What state is this? Connecticut? They can all kiss my ass.”

According to Lawal, fans also booed him during his decision win over Mikhail Zayats in February, which also took place at the Mohegan Sun Arena. The light-heavyweight said they did so because “I was like, ‘Look, I’m slipping, and he’s slipping. I’m not going to try to go out there and fight if we’re both slipping. I’m going to go out there and just get the victory and fight Quinton (Jackson).”

All the booing aside, Lawal extended his record to 13-4 with the victory, after dropping a controversial decision to Jackson in May.
