Report: Bellator’s Scott Coker Confirms “Discussions” With Mirko “Cro Cop”
By FCF Staff
On Friday night, Bellator confirmed that it has added Kimbo Slice to its roster, and apparently the promotion is pursuing another big name heavyweight, Mirko “Cro Cop”.
Following Bellator 132, the promotion’s president Scott Coker, confirmed that they are interested in signing the Croatian striker (quote via MMA Junkie.com):
“We’ve had several discussions,” Coker said while discussing the PRIDE and UFC vet. “I’m not sure to what extent he’s ready to come to America and fight, but we’ve had some conversations.”
Coker went on to credit “Cro Cop” for his recent, stoppage win over Satoshi Ishii, which took place at an IGF event on New Year’s Eve.
The 40 year-old Filipovic has gone 3-1 in MMA bouts since he exited the UFC in 2011. “Cro Cop” has also been competing in kickboxing matches, and has gone 7-1 during that stretch.
