Brennan Ward recorded his third straight win as a welterweight at Bellator 144, and the promotion’s president, Scott Coker, says the noted finisher could be tapped for a title shot next.

Ward took out Dennis Olson with strikes in the opening round on Friday night, and pushed his record to 12-3. Following his submission loss to middleweight Tamdan McCrory last September, Ward has also finished Curtis Millender and Roger Carroll.

Following the event, Coker relayed to MMA Junkie.com that “Irish” could face welterweight champ, Andrey Koreshkov, next.

“There are some really great fights for Ward,” Coker said. “I think him fighting Koreshkov is probably something we’d like to do.

“I have to go back and talk to my guys, but I do feel like that’s a fight that’s kind of teed up now. He could fight Page, but I think Ward has proven he’s at that level to fight for the title, so don’t be surprised if we announce that soon.”

Koreshkov (18-1) secured the title in July by earning a UD win over Douglas Lima. The “Spartan” has won five in a row.
