The drama surrounding Vitor Belfort’s next fight continues to roll on, as it’s being reported that Chael Sonnen has failed a random drug test. As a result, Sonnen has been pulled from UFC 175 on July 5th, when he was supposed to fight Belfort.

According to a report from ESPN.com, Sonnen has allegedly tested positive for the banned substances anastrozole and clomiphene, following a random test from the Nevada State Athletic Commission.

The UFC has released the following statement regarding the news:

“UFC officials acknowledge irregularities in a recent random test. Chael is planning on addressing the matter this afternoon.”

Sonnen tested positive for an elevated testosterone-to-epitestosterone ratio in 2010, following his submission loss to Anderson Silva.

Sonnen hadn’t disclosed his use of testosterone-replacement-therapy to the commission, which has since been outright banned.

Initially, Sonnen was scheduled to fight Wanderlei Silva at UFC 175, but the latter was pulled from the event after failing to submit a random drug test and a license application.
