According to reports Chris Leben’s plans to come out of retirement and fight for Bellator, have been sidelined by the discovery that he has a heart condition.

Recently Bellator announced that it had signed the 35 year-old vet to a contract, which was contingent on him passing a medical. MMA Nytt is reporting, however, that doctors have learned that Leben has a serious heart condition. MMA Junkie.com has been informed by Leben’s team that his doctors say the fighter’s heart is only receiving 18% of the bloodflow that is considered normal.

Leben has been prescribed medication with the intention of it preventing a serious cardiac event from taking place.

The heavy handed fighter, who battled drug addiction during his fighting career, hasn’t competed since 2013.
