Win or lose, one of the Ultimate Fighting Championship’s most experienced and entertaining fighters in Chris Lytle, is reportedly calling it quits after his main event bout tonight with welterweight Dan Hardy. The 36 year-old-veteran of over 50 pro MMA bouts has reported his decision to NBC Sports.

In the NBC report, Lytle cited the desire to spend more time with his four children as the deciding factor in his decision to retire.

The full time firefighter has previously discussed his interest in getting into politics, however, Lytle reported that he’ll only do so, provided he spend more time with his family than he does now.

Lytle (30-18-5) heads into tonight’s UFC Live on Versus 5 bout having gone 4-1 in his last five UFC bouts, with his only loss during that stretch coming to Brian Ebersole this past February.

Since Lytle made his UFC debut in 2000, the Indiana fighter and former pro boxer has won numerous bonus awards including five “Fight of the Night” honors.

Tonight’s UFC Live on Versus card will be hosted by Milwaukee’s Bradley Center and will be broadcast live on Versus.
