Following Conor McGregor’s loss to Nate Diaz at UFC 196, the featherweight champ said he plans to defend the 145 title next, but it looks like that might not happen.

McGregor faced Diaz in a welterweight contest on March 5th, and was submitted by the latter in the second round. According to a recent report from MMA Fighting.com, the UFC is close to signing an immediate rematch between the two for July 9th. UFC 200 will take place on that day in Las Vegas.

According to the report, the rematch will also be contested at 170 pounds.

Prior to facing Diaz, McGregor had won 15 straight bouts, including his first seven fights with the UFC.
