Report: Dana White And UFC “Talking About” Free Agent Anthony Johnson
By FCF Staff
After going 6-0 outside of ZUFFA, and having put his weight-cutting issues behind him, the UFC might be interested in bringing Anthony Johnson back into the fold.
Following Johnson’s quick KO win over Mike Kyle at WSOF 8 earlier this month, the 29 year-old light-heavyweight entered free agency. Dana White was asked about Johnson at a pre-UFC 169 event this week, and the UFC President relayed (quote via MMA Fighting.com):
“Me and Joe [Silva] were talking about him the other day,” White said. “I mean, I like the kid. I always did.”
Johnson has also scored a KO win over DJ Linderman and decisioned former UFC champ Andrei Arlovski under the WSOF banner.
For Johnson’s recent WSOF 8 win over Kyle he earned $75,000 (including a $35,000 win bonus).
The 16-4 fighter exited the UFC in January, 2012, after he was submitted by Vitor Belfort at UFC 142.
