With two bouts left on UFC Middleweight Champion Anderson Silva’s current contract, the promotion has apparently begun discussing a new deal with the renowned fighter. While in the past Silva has relayed that he did not intend to fight for many more years, and then later that he could fight into his 40’s, President Dana White says the 37 year-old is leaning to the latter.

According to a report from MMA Mania, in a recent live chat session with fans, White stated that he had approached Silva about a new 8 fight deal but that the champion asked for 10. If such a  deal were to take place, then the Brazilian veteran could be considering fighting for three or four, possibly five more years.

Silva (33-4) competed just twice in 2012, and scored stoppage wins over light-heavyweight Stephan Bonnar and former middleweight contender Chael Sonnen.

The feared striker, and consensus best pound-for-pound fighter, has gone undefeated in 16 UFC bouts.
