It’s no secret that Russia has produced a long of list of world class fighters, and as the UFC continues to host more and more shows outside of North America, the promotion is planning to tap into that nation’s flourishing MMA market soon.

In fact, while speaking after this Saturday’s UFC on FOX 6 card in Chicago, UFC President Dana White relayed that the UFC could hold an event in Russia sometime in 2013. According to a report from MMA Junkie, White said the UFC would likely do so before holding a season of “The Ultimate Fighter” in the massive country.

White stopped short of offering any specific details in terms of when and where they would host an event in Russia.

Rising star Khabib Nurmagomedov (19-0) would likely take front-and-center in any UFC event held in the nation, as the Russian lightweight has won three straight fights in the Octagon and is coming off an impressive, first round stoppage of Thiago Tavares earlier this month.
