Report: Dana White Says UFC Offer Will Make Anderson Silva Say “Yes, Yes, Yes” to Bout With Jon Jones

UFC Middleweight Champion Anderson Silva

It was if Anderson Silva knew heading into UFC 153 that a win over Stephan Bonnar would only heighten calls for a fight between himself and the light-heavyweight champ Jon Jones, and the middleweight champ has consistently stated his future lies at 185 pounds.

Of course, on account of his highlight reel stoppage of Bonnar Saturday, which featured Silva bobbing and weaving along the Octagon fence with his guard down, the calls for such a fight will understandably increase.

After the fight, UFC commentator Joe Rogan asked Silva if he was interested in competing at 205 pounds again, however, the 37 year-old fighter repeated that he intends to keep defending his middleweight crown.

At the post UFC 153 presser, Dana White was naturally asked about the possibility of a Silva, Jones, bout, and the UFC President reportedly offered this response.

“I know my man says ‘No, no, no,'” said White. “But the amount of money that would be offered for that fight, I guarantee you I will make Anderson Silva say, ‘Yes, yes, yes.’

Silva has also repeatedly cited the fact that he has teammates, like Antonio Rogerio Nogueira, who compete at light-heavyweight, as another reason why he does not want to challenge Jones.

There is also the possibility, of course, of a super fight with Georges St. Pierre at some juncture, provided the champion defeats interim champ Carlos Condit on November 17th. That fight would also be highly lucrative, and Silva and his representatives have expressed an interest in seeing it materialize.
