Report: Dana White Says Women Fighting in UFC “Absolutely Will Happen”
By FCF Staff
After questioning for years whether there were enough women competitors to warrant their introduction into the UFC, the promotion’s Dana White is now reportedly certain that female fighters will step into the Octagon one day.
While speaking to SI.com recently, the UFC President stated “It’s absolutely going to happen” when asked about the prospect of a women’s division in the promotion. White added that there is no timeframe in place for introducing women competitors to the UFC, but furthered “I’m committed to this.”
White’s growing interest in women’s MMA has coincided with the exploding popularity of Strikeforce Bantamweight Champion Ronda Rousey. The UFC President has even expressed an interest in promoting a bout between Rousey and former Strikeforce featherweight champ Cristiane “Cyborg” Santos.
Of course, Rousey remains a Strikeforce commodity and reportedly has three fights left on her current contract.
