Report: Despite Challenge to Anderson Silva, Rashad Evans Not Heading to Middleweight

UFC Light Heavyweight Rashad Evans

By FCF Staff

Despite calling out UFC Middleweight Champion Anderson Silva via Twitter on Saturday, Rashad Evans plans to continue competing in the light-heavyweight division where he was once champion.

After Silva defended his title by stopping Chael Sonnen at UFC 148, Evans tweeted the following to UFC owner Lorenzon Fertitta:

i want 2 pick a fight with the middle weight champion! Lol Make it happen!! Please!!

Evan’s manager, Glenn Robinson of Authentic Sports Management, however, has told MMA Junkie that the fighter has no plans to compete at 185 pounds.

The 32 year-old fighter is coming off a unanimous decision loss to champion Jon Jones in April, which ended the veteran’s four fight win streak.

During that stretch Evans (17-2) scored wins over Thiago Silva, Tito Ortiz, Quinton Jackson and Phil Davis.
