The last fight of Eddie Alvarez’s current contract with Bellator will take place October 12^th in Windsor, Ontario, according to reports Thursday. The promotion’s former lightweight champion and highly regarded fighter is set to enter free agency after the bout.

No opponent for Alvarez has been determined yet but is expected to be announced in the coming days. News of the fight was reported first by MMA Fighting.

Bellator has not made any announcement regarding the fight or the event.

Alvarez (23-3) is coming off a first round, stoppage win over DREAM champion Shinya Aoki in April, after the 28 year-old-fighter was tapped out in the fourth round by reigning Bellator champ Michael Chandler last November.

The Philadelphia Fight Factory competitor is 8-2 in his last 10 bouts, with his only other loss during that stretch coming against Aoki.

Since signing with Bellator in 2009, Alvarez has also scored wins over established fighters like Josh Neer, Roger Huerta and Pat Curran.

The Bellator 76 card will be hosted by Caesars Windsor.
