It’s a headline that many old school fans have been waiting to see for years, and while nothing has been confirmed, there are reports that Fedor Emelianenko plans to fight again.

The 38 year-old Emelianenko has said in the past that he’s not interested in fighting any more, but in a report from Union MMA, the fighter is quoted saying (as translated by Google):

“I was able to recover and heal old wounds. The last three years I have maintained the physical form, but this level is not enough to go into battle. Therefore recently I started intensive training. We have assembled a team of versatile coaches and athletes who will help me in the training process. I will try to participate in professional growth fighters. There is still work to do to prepare to leave the ring. Negotiations are underway with companies that conduct battles. Once agreements are reached, there will be information on the date of the fight and rival.”

According to a follow up report from Bloody Elbow.com, sources have confirmed with the outlet that the former PRIDE heavyweight champ intends to fight again.

The Russian star hasn’t fought since 2012 when he stopped Pedro Rizzo while fighting for M-1 Global.  Emelianenko (34-4) closed out his career having won three in a row with M-1 Global, which followed three consecutive losses under the Strikeforce banner.
