Report: Foot Injury Has Forced Renan Barao Off UFC 161 Card
By FCF Staff
It was reported this past weekend that Rena Barao may been forced to withdraw from his upcoming, UFC 161 bout with Eddie Wineland, and now the interim bantamweight champ is officially off the card.
UFC President Dana White has reportedly informed MMA Junkie.com that the Brazilian fighter has tore ligaments in his foot, and as a result, doctors will not clear him to compete on June 15th. UFC 161 is scheduled to take place on that date at the MTS Centre in Winnipeg, Manitoba.
White did not provide any details as to what the promotion plans to do in terms of a new headliner for the event.
UFC 161 is set to feature “Shogun” Rua vs. Antonio Rogerio Nogueira, Dan Henderson vs. Rashad Evans, Pat Barry vs. Shawn Jordan and Alexis Davis vs. Rosi Sexton on the main card.
