UFC veteran Josh Grispi has reportedly been arrested and has been charged for allegedly assaulting his wife, in what a police officer has characterized as the “worst case of domestic abuse” he’s seen.

According to a report from the Taunton Gazette, the 25 year-old Grispi is being held at the Plymouth House of Correction in Massachusetts, and has been charged with multiple crimes, including domestic abuse and assault.

The report says Grispi was initially arrested on Friday for allegedly assaulting his wife, but posted $2,000 bail and was released. Then on Monday, Grispi was arrested once again, and is being held on $100,000 bail.

Middlesboro police are also claiming that Grispi trained his pitbull to attack his wife, and that the latter was mauled by the dog. The woman was treated in hospital for “serious” injuries but has been released.

In addition, police say that firearms, ammunition and a pot farm were discovered at Grispi’s residence. As a result, Grispi has been charged with “two counts of assault and battery, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, two counts of violating a restraining order, animal cruelty, malicious damage to a motor vehicle, drug possession to cultivate marijuana and improper storage of a large capacity firearm and rifle or shotgun near a child”

Grispi has pleaded innocent to the charges.

The 14-5 featherweight hasn’t fought since February, 2013, when Grispi was decisioned by Andy Ogle. The defeat was the fighter’s fourth straight, and Grispi was released by the UFC.
