Ben Rothwell

Although the UFC has yet to officially announce the event, according to reports the promotion is close to signing a heavyweight fight between Gabriel Gonzaga and Ben Rothwell for a January 19th card in Brazil.

The event, which has yet to have a location or venue confirmed, is expected to air on FX or FUEL TV.

The proposed Gonzaga, Rothwell bout was reported first by Tatame.com.

Gonzaga (13-6) is coming off a successful Octagon return, as the former heavyweight contender tapped out Ednaldo Oliveira at UFC 142 in January. The renowned grappler is 3-2 in his last five fights.

Rothwell (32-8) is also coming off a win, as the IFL vet knocked out Brendan Schaub in April at UFC 145. The heavyweight is 3-2 in his last five appearances.

Some of the other rumoured bouts for the January 19th card include Nik Lentz vs. Diego Nunes and George Roop vs. Yuri Alcantara.
