Georges St-Pierre may be feeling the “itch” to fight again, but don’t expect the former UFC welterweight champ back in the Octagon any time soon.

Since St-Pierre was medically cleared to train again, after suffering another knee injury last year, there’s been widespread speculation as to whether he would fight in 2015. Following his split decision win over Johny Hendricks in November, 2013, the renowned fighter announced he was taking a hiatus from the sport.

In addition to relaying he needed to take break due to personal reasons, GSP also expressed considerable concern about the prevalence of performance enhancing drugs in MMA, and the lack of adequate testing. The Canadian star has repeated those sentiments since news of Anderson Silva’s failed drug test surfaced.

Recently GSP appeared on “The MMA Hour”, and while discussing his future in fighting, here is some of what he had to say (quote via MMA Fighting.com):

“I’m not going to lie, I’m busy with everything and I work on other projects,” St-Pierresaid. “But for sure I watch the fights sometimes and I feel the itch. And the more and more I watch the fights the more I feel the itch. I took time out of competition because I was also burned out of all the pressure and the expectations and everything…”

“For me, the condition for me to return, if I want to return…I need my fights to be tested by an organization that is independent and competent like VADA, or I believe there is another one,” he said. “It needs to be done, otherwise I’m not coming back.”

The 33 year-old walked away from the UFC having won 12 straight fights, and currently holds a record of 25-2.
