Glover Teixeira not only dropped a clear cut, decision loss to Jon Jones at UFC 172 last weekend, but the punishing fighter reportedly incurred a torn labrum early in the fight.

Following the April 26th event, John Hackleman confirmed that Teixeira injured his shoulder during the bout, and now the renowned coach has relayed the light-heavyweight will need to undergo shoulder surgery.

Hackleman has confirmed Teixeira’s torn labrum to MMA Fighting.com, which the coach believes took place after a shoulder crank from Jones in the opening round.

Teixeira has yet to decide when and where the required surgery will take place. The defeat was Teixeira’s first since 2005 and ended the Brazilian fighter’s 20 fight win streak.
