Report: Henry Cejudo Will Even Turn Down Title Fight in Nevada, Following Nick Diaz Suspension

Henry Cejudo recently announced he’ll no longer fight in Nevada, following the commission’s suspension of Nick Diaz, and that pledge apparently includes title fights.

After the Nevada Commission announced that it has suspended Diaz for five years, Cejudo announced through his management that he had elected to boycott fighting in the state. Cejudo believes the suspension is unfair and that Diaz was targeted by the commission.

The decorated wrestler recently appeared on “The MMA Hour” to discuss his stance, and while doing so, Cejudo said this (quote via MMA Fighting.com):

“I’m just here to take a step for my personal view, and I just couldn’t do it. Even if that means leaving the belt on the line and leaving somebody else to fight whoever has that belt at that time, I’m willing to do that. I’m willing to show the type of person with the type of character that I am.”

Cejudo is scheduled to fight Jussier “Formiga” in Monterrey, Mexico on November 21st. The 9-0 fighter is ranked #5 in the UFC’s flyweight division.

Diaz tested positive for marijuana earlier in 2015, marking the third time he’s been flagged for the substance. The renowned fighter is medically licensed to use marijuana in California.
