Ronda Rousey

Now that Ronda Rousey has quickly dispatched of another challenger, debate about where the UFC bantamweight champ ranks in terms of the sport’s best, pound-for-pound rankings has likely never been more rampant. After all, we are talking about a champion who continues to outclass the opposition by a wide margin, and has fought for 30 seconds total in her last two outings.

Well, before Rousey went on to submit Cat Zingano in 14 seconds at UFC 184 this past weekend, UFC commentator Joe Rogan argued on ESPN’s Dan Lebatard Show that Rousey could defeat many of the UFC’s male, bantamweight fighters (quote via MMA Fighting.com):

“There’s a lot of guys her size she could beat,” said Rogan. “I mean, a lot. If you took the roster of the UFC’s bantamweights, 135 pounds, and you paired them up against Ronda Rousey, she might be able to beat 50 percent of them. That’s not a joke.”

Rogan went on to contend that he believes a woman’s ability to “take punches” is less than males, due to their facial and muscular structure, which is why Rousey would only defeat “50%”of male 135’ers. The accomplished martial artist furthered that if Rousey could “take the kind of punches” that might land, Rogan reportedly argued the champ might be able to defeat “60%”of the male, bantamweight division.

Rousey currently holds an overall record of 11-0.
