Report: Joe Rogan Didn’t “Like” Edmond Tarverdyan’s Cornering For Ronda Rousey at UFC 193

Ronda Rousey

Following Ronda Rousey’s decisive loss to Holly Holm, more than a few people have criticized Edmond Tarverdyan for how he cornered “Rowdy”, and Joe Rogan is one of them.

Rousey took several hard shots from Holm during the opening minutes of their UFC 193 bout, and clearly lost the first round. Tarverdyan, however, was reportedly heard telling the former champ she was doing well. In round two, a clearly shaken Rousey came out charging once again, and Holm put her away with a head kick shortly after.

Recently Rogan weighed in on the shocking upset during his podcast, and while doing so, he had this to say about Rousey’s striking coach (quote via MMA Fighting.com):

“I like Edmond,” Rogan said. “I talk to him all the time. I enjoy talking to him. I always hug that guy when I see him. I do not like what he did in the corner. He wasn’t honest. He told her she did great. He was like, ‘Great round, champ. Everything is great.’ Maybe he was trying to psychologically pump her up, but she needed technical advice. She needed someone to tell her what she’s doing wrong and how to correct it. I think he’s more of like a boxing coach than he is an overall MMA coach.”

Prior to UFC 193, Rousey was widely considered to be the most dominant champ in MMA, and had needed less than three minutes to defeat her last four opponents.
