Report: Joe Rogan Questions Whether Kimbo Slice-Ken Shamrock Bout Was a Work

Joe Rogan knows that Kimbo Slice stopped Ken Shamrock on Friday night with some booming punches, but the UFC commentator isn’t convinced the rest of the Bellator 138 bout was legit.

Shamrock was able to take Slice to the ground not long into the bout, and from there, he moved to the latter’s back. Shamrock worked for a rear-naked-choke, but Slice was able to work his way out, and the finished the bout with a flurry of punches.

In a recent episode of Rogan’s podcast, however, the accomplished martial artist questioned whether parts of the fight weren’t staged. Here is some of what Rogan had to say about the fight (quote via MMA Fighting.com):

“That fight looked fake as f**k. There’s a couple things I don’t like about that fight….” said Rogan, before noting that Shamrock and Slice were clinched up for a while, where they were “mouth to ear” for several moments.

“When Ken did take [Slice] down he never hit him once. How bout that? He never hit him. He had him down. He had him flattened out. He’s not blasting him with punches. He’s got him flattened out and he’s not hitting him. That doesn’t make any sense.”

“[Shamrock] never went behind the head,” said Rogan, while referring to Shamrock’s choke attempt. “He choked [Slice] but he had it like on top of the head in some sort of weird way.”

Rogan conceded that the end of the fight was real, as Shamrock was dropped to the floor with a big right hand and was badly cut above the left eye.

The fight marked the first time the 51 year-old Shamrock had fought since 2010. Slice also hadn’t competed in a MMA fight since 2010, but has fought in boxing bouts more recently.
