Report: Johny Hendricks Planning Exit From Team Takedown

Hendricks

Johny Hendricks has reportedly announced he’s leaving the team that helped develop him into a UFC champion.

The former welterweight champ is reporting that he’s decided to leave Team Takedown, when his contract with the camp expires after February, 2016. The 32 year-old Hendricks announced the news on MMA Junkie.com Radio:

“(Team Takedown) has done a great job with me for the last eight years,” Hendricks said. “We just couldn’t come to an agreement on certain things, and it was time for me to pull away.”

Hendricks did not comment on where he might head next, and he said he’s not sure if he’ll continue to work with any of his current coaches, as a result of the pending split. “Bigg Rigg” also relayed he’d like to fight in February, but added since his contract with Takedown is inplace through that month, March might be more feasible.

Hendricks was scheduled to fight Tyron Woodley at UFC 192 in October, but due to weight cutting issues, he had to withdraw.
