Just a few days ago,  Johny Hendricks revealed that his UFC 171 performance was hindered by an arm injury, and now it’s being reported that the welterweight champ will undergo surgery next week to repair a torn bicep.

Hendricks secured the vacant welterweight championship Saturday night by scoring a unanimous decision win over Robbie Lawler, but on Monday, he disclosed on “The MMA Hour” that he was suffering from an elbow injury going into the bout. On Wednesday, Hendricks and his management team relayed to multiple outlets that the fighter has in fact torn his bicep, and is scheduled for surgery next week.

In the latest episode of “UFC Tonight” on Wednesday, the newly crowned champ had this say to about the timeline for his recovery:

“I hope to be on the same timeline. I should be back and ready to go in normal time, October or November would be perfect. I don’t want to rush it, but want to give people a shot at the belt.”

Hendricks also reportedly suffered a hairline fracture to his shin during his memorable bout with Lawler at UFC 171.
