Report: Jon Jones Officially a Suspect in Hit-And-Run Accident, UFC Releases Statement

After Albuquerque police relayed that Jon Jones was being sought for questioning, in regards to a hit-and-run accident, the authorities are reporting the UFC champ is now a suspect.

On Sunday, it was reported that police wanted to speak to Jones about a vehicular incident, which sent a women to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The women is reportedly pregnant.

At the time, authorities could not confirm that Jones was a suspect. According to a new report from MMA Fighting.com, however, Jones has now been named a suspect in the incident. As of press time, police have been unable to reach Jones.

The UFC has released the following statement:

“We are aware that the Albuquerque Police Department is interested in speaking to Jon Jones regarding his possible involvement in a motor vehicle accident. We are in the process of gathering facts and will reserve further comment until more information is available.”

Jones is currently scheduled to fight light-heavyweight challenger Anthony Johnson on May 23rd at UFC 187.

Earlier this year it was revealed that Jones tested positive for cocaine leading up to his decision win over Daniel Cormier at UFC 183. The renowned fighter was arrested for a DWI in 2012.
