Report: Jon Jones Says CM Punk’s UFC Deal “Unfair”, Hopes Former WWE Star Gets “Knocked Out”

Although some fighters have extended an invitation to Phil “CM Punk” Brooks to come train with them, it looks like UFC champ Jon Jones isn’t going to be one of them.

Recently, the UFC announced that it has signed Brooks to a contract, but the pro-wrestler’s deal has been met with mixed reviews from fighters. Jones appeared on the Chad Dukes Versus The World radio show, and while discussing CM Punk’s upcoming UFC debut, he stated (quote via MMA Fighting.com):

“I just think it’s unfair for the people who have been working their tails off to earn this opportunity,” Jones said. “That’s why I really hope UFC gives him a real opponent so we can watch him get knocked out.”

The light-heavyweight noted that he trains with up-and-coming fighters who are struggling to make ends meet, and argued that Brooks has been signed by the UFC solely due to his name. Jones did concede that Brooks will create publicity for the promotion, however, and that the signing is “awesome” for the sport.

Jones will take on rival Daniel Cormier at UFC 182 this Saturday, which will take place in Las Vegas, Nevada.
