Report: Jose Aldo Thinks Ronda Rousey Could Win Title Again, But Believes “Rowdy” Won’t Return

Ronda Rousey

After suffering a one sided, knockout loss on Saturday versus Holly Holm, Jose Aldo believes Ronda Rousey might decide to walk away from fighting.

Rousey was repeatedly cracked by Holm in the opening round of their UFC 193 bout last weekend, and in round two, the latter took the bantamweight title a vicious head kick. Rousey hasn’t commented much on the defeat, but she has said on social media that she’ll “be back.”

Recently Aldo spoke with the media in his native Brazil, and when asked about Rousey’s loss, the featherweight champ said this about the superstar (quote via MMA Fighting.com):

“I think it’s really hard for her to return to fighting,” Aldo said. “Her career has taken a different direction. If I’m making a lot of money doing movies or something else, I’d go that direction too. Am I going to mess my face up getting punched in the face? You’re crazy [laughs]. In my opinion, I don’t think (she fights again). If she comes back, of course she can (win the title). She was always a fighter, but if I were her, I wouldn’t come back.”

Prior to the defeat, Rousey was widely considered to be one of the most dominant fighters in combat sports.

Aldo, meanwhile, is scheduled to fight Conor McGregor at UFC 194 on December 12th.
