Although Conor McGregor stopped one of the UFC’s top featherweights in Chad Mendes, this past July, Jose Aldo’s coach apparently wasn’t overly impressed.

McGregor faced Mendes at UFC 189 on July 11th, and after falling behind on the scorecards, put the powerful wrestler away in round two.

Recently Aldo’s coach, the renowned Andre Pederneiras, spoke with UFC.com in Rio de Janeiro. While discussing McGregor, and the latter’s win over Mendes, Pederneiras said this:

“What happens to McGregor matters very little,” Pederneiras said. “If he was expecting a Cinderella dream when he had the belt, maybe he noticed this is the real world, and a beating will happen on the day the fights happens. That’s it.”

The featherweight champ Aldo hasn’t fought since last October, when he decisioned Mendes. Aldo also fought Mendes in 2012 and knocked him out in the opening round.

Aldo-McGregor is booked for December 12th at UFC 194, after the champion was forced to withdraw from UFC 189 due to a rib injury. McGregor won the interim 145 title by defeating McGregor.

UFC 194 will be hosted by the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
