If Luke Rockhold ends the reign of Chris Weidman tonight at UFC 194, then chances are, he’ll face the winner of “Jacare” Souza – Yoel Romero, which is also scheduled for tonight. The two have been scheduled to fight before, but injuries kept pushing the bout back.

Recently the middleweight contender spoke to MMA Fighting.com, and he was asked for his thoughts on the pivotal match-up. Rockhold credited both Souza and Romero for their athleticism and explosiveness, and relayed that he’s picking “Jacare” to win the five round bout. The AKA fighter also had this to say about Romero:

“Is he really 38? We need to check some records,” Rockhold said about the Cuban star and decorated wrestler. “But he’s sloppy. He’s got no jiu jitsu. And he puts himself in bad positions. But he’s one of the best wrestlers ever to grace the sport of wrestling, and obviously when it comes to MMA, he’s the best wrestler ever. I don’t think there is any comparison to Yoel in MMA. But does he use it correctly?”

Rockhold faced Souza back in 2011, and took the Strikeforce middleweight belt from the latter, via unanimous decision. Since then “Jacare” has won eight straight. Romero, meanwhile, is riding a six fight winning streak.

UFC 194 will be hosted by the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
