Leading up to the May 2nd fight between Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao, all the indications were that the boxing match would set viewing records, and that’s exactly what happened.

According to a report from the Las Vegas Sun, the parties involved have announced that the bout generated 4.4 million pay-per-view buys. That’s almost 2 million more than what Mayweather’s 2008 fight with Oscar De La Hoya generated, which held the previous record.

As a result of these numbers, the total revenue for Mayweather-Pacquia is expected to exceed $500 million. The card’s live gate, which went down at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, was $71 million.

Mayweather outscored Pacquiao in the historic bout and won a unanimous decision.
