Dana White is clearly angry about the devastating knee injury TUF 18 winner Julianna Pena incurred recently, but her teammate Michael Chiesa has come to the defense of Sik-Jitsu Fighting Systems, which the UFC President has blamed for the incident.

After news of the injury surfaced, White tweeted ” “What happened to @VenzuelanVixen is the most disgusting thing I have ever heard. Ranked #10 and out 2 years. #leavethatgymnow.”

More recently, White relayed after speaking with Pena, that she was “basically attacked” by a teammate in the Spokane gym. According to White, Pena told him the teammate jumped on her back, after taunting her about a “Ultimate Fighter” shirt she was wearing.

In a follow up report from MMA Fighting.com, however, Chiesa says Pena’s injury took place while she was rolling with a teammate and that: “Nobody is to blame; it was a training accident.”

Chiesa also disputed the claim Pena was taunted for wearing a TUF shirt prior to the incident. The lightweight said that if any comments were made about her shirt it was “light-hearted gym humour.”

Chiesa added that the Spokane teams is very close and that the incident is “tearing our team apart.”

Pena has reportedly torn the ACL, MCL, LCL and meniscus in her knee and will undergo surgery soon.
