Report: Nevada Commission Confirms Settlement Talks With Nick Diaz Ongoing

Nick Diaz

By FCF Staff

Recently Nick Diaz reported that his legal team are negotiating with the Nevada Commission, and now the latter has confirmed that they are in settlement discussions with the fighter.

Diaz was suspended for five years last month, following his latest, positive test for marijuana. The decision was widely criticized by fans and industry figures, and Diaz recently announced settlement talks with the commission are “going well”.

In a follow up reporting from MMA Fighting.com, NAC chairman Francisco Aguilar released the following statement to the outlet:

“As a reminder to the general public, the Nick Diaz disciplinary matter will not be on the agenda at the regularly scheduled meeting of the Nevada State Athletic Commission’s on Thursday, October 29, 2015 in Las Vegas,” Aguilar said. “Settlement discussions between the NSAC and Mr. Diaz and his counsel are on-going.”

A source was cited in a previous report from the site that Diaz might be cleared to compete in 2016.

The 32 year-old fighter hasn’t fought since January when he was decisioned by Anderson Silva. The decision was overturned, however, after Silva tested positive for performance enhancing drugs.
